Potato Seed Production Course 2014 at KEPHIS Headquarters from 1st to 5th december, 2014

During the training that took place from 1st to 5th December 2014, twenty seven (27) participants were trained on seed potato related issues. The participants were drawn from KEPHIS, plus other professional of public and private organizations working in the domain of potato development, seed potato production and seed sector development such as managers of seed companies handling production and marketing; seed and ware potato producers; national and County Government staff responsible for seed potato supply; regulatory agencies; senior technical staff involved in potato research, development and extension.

The course was opened by Dr. Esther Kimani, acting managing director KEPHIS. The course broad objective were to strengthen capacity in implementing viable seed supply systems in potato to enhance potato value chains and contribute to food security. The specific Objectives were: o Update participants' knowledge on recent developments in seed potato supply systems. o Assess opportunities and necessary conditions for improving supply systems of high quality seed potatoes with private sector participation. o Provide opportunity for exchange of experiences and development of new ideas among participating professionals.
