The training of Mozambique Staff on seed certification, 2nd to 8th August, 2015 at KEPHIS Headquarters and KEPHIS Nakuru.

The Department of seeds in Mozambique is in the process of implementing a Guarantee System for seed quality control, licensing of inspectors and laboratories.

Training on Tissue Culture Technology for Sustainable Production of SweetPotato Planting Material for Central, Eastern & Southern Africa Held on 20th To 24th July 2015 at KEPHIS Plant Quarantine and Biosecurity Station

International Potato Center (CIP), requested KEPHIS through Centre for Phytosanitary Excellence (COPE) to host and conduct a training course on “Tissue Culture Technology for Sustainable Production of Sweetpotato Planting Material”.

Training of Uganda Staff on seed certification 8th and 15th July 2015 at KEPHIS Nakuru

The staff were from the seed quality control department with their main objective being to learn how to conduct field inspection practically.
The training for the seed staff was two weeks. The trainees were taken through some theory classes and practical training targeting plant health issues, seed policy, certification, regulation, licensing and seed storage.

Second Training on Quality management and certification of fresh fruits and vegtables, 20th to 24th July, 2016 at KEPHIS Headquarters Nairobi, Kenya

The Training of Trainers on Quality Management for Certification of Fruits and Vegetables that was held from 20th July to 24th July 2015, at KEPHIS. Participants were drawn from the entire horticulture export sector comprising of regulators (KEPHIS, HCD, and PCPB), technical service providers (KARLO, MOALF), business member organizations (FPEAK, AAK) and exporters.

Training of Animal and plant health inspectorate Staff from Botswana on plant health inspectorate and Animal Issues at KEPHIS Kenya and Department of Veterinary Services, Kenya 22nd June to 31st July, 2015

 

The training involved three participants; the participants were involved in the training for six weeks. This training module was executed by the Department of Veterinary services (DVS) and Kenya Plant health inspectorate service (KEPHIS).

Technical staff training (Emerging issues like Tuta absoluta, false codling, MNLD, pest identification, diagnostics & management) 11th to 13th May 2015 KEPHIS Headquarters

A training was organized by the Center of Phytosanitary Execellence courtesy of the Regional Implementation Program (RIIP) to train inspectors on emerging issues. the training was attended by 16 staff selected from different KEPHIS offices.

Potato Seed Production Course 2014 at KEPHIS Headquarters from 1st to 5th december, 2014

During the training that took place from 1st to 5th December 2014, twenty seven (27) participants were trained on seed potato related issues. The participants were drawn from KEPHIS, plus other professional of public and private organizations working in the domain of potato development, seed potato production and seed sector development such as managers of seed companies handling production and marketing; seed and ware potato producers; national and County Government staff responsible for seed potato supply; regulatory agencies; senior technical staff involved in potato research, development and extension.

5TH ANNUAL WORKSHOP ON APPLICATION OF COMMERCIAL QUALITY STANDARDS FOR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES IN KENYA 24th NOVEMBER to 26th NOVEMBER 2014, KEPHIS Headquarters, Nairobi, Kenya

OECD collaborates with governments to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world by holding capacity building workshops and development of training materials. Kenya became a member of the OECD Fruits and Vegetables Scheme in 2009. Since 2010, Kenya has been holding annual training workshops on application of fruits and vegetable standards in Kenya and East Africa. The 2014 International Workshop on Commercial quality standards for Fresh fruits and vegetables was held in Nairobi, Kenya on 24th to 26th November 2014 at KEPHIS Headquarters. the workshop was co funded with the Ceter of Phytosaniatary Execellence (COPE).
